Campaign to pass Proposition C, a 2012 parks bond measure
This $166 million bond measure to help fund an ambitious vision to link Houston’s great parks with ribbons of green along the city’s bayous, passed by 68 percent—the largest margin of any bond initiative in the city’s history.
“[The Trust for Public Land Action Fund staff was] very helpful in the communication with voters. They did a poll targeted toward what language to use and gave advice on who should speak on our behalf. The Trust for Public Land Action Fund also sent out direct mail to 100,000 voters, using a consultant they had worked with before. Getting out that direct mail at a nonprofit rate was huge for us. It helped up significantly expand the pool of voters we could reach.”
